The languages spoken by most of the people world wide
06-02-09

1. Mandarin

Over one billion people speak Mandarin as their mother tongue and this makes Manadrin the most commonly used language in the world, because it is spoken in the most populated country on the planet. It is spoken twice the number of time that English is spoken.

2. English

Even if it not the most spoken language of the world, it is the official language of more countries than any other language. Its speakers hail from all around the world, including New Zealand, the U.S., Australia, England, Zimbabwe, the Caribbean, India, South Africa, and Canada.

3. Hindustani

The third most common language is that one that is spoken in the second most populated place of the world: India. It encompasses a huge number of dialects (of which the most common is Hindi). While many predict that the population of India will soon surpass that of China, the prominence of English in India prevents Hindustani from surpassing the most popular language in the world.

4. Spanish

Whit 392 million speakers, Spanish is the fourth language in the world, thanks to the fact it isn't spoken only in Spain, but also in South and Central American countries, Cuba, and the U.S.

5. Russian

One of the six languages in the UN, Russian is spoken not only in the Mother Country, but also in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and the U.S. (to name just a few places).

6. Arabic

It has an estimated 186 million native speakers. As the language of the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam, it is also widely used throughout the Muslim world. It is spoken in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt.

7. Bengali

Bengali is the primary language spoken in Bangladesh, a country of 120+ million people, where just about everybody speaks Bengali, and is the second most spoken language in India.

8. Portuguese

Even if Portugal is a very small country, thanks to people like Vasco da Gama and Prince Henry the Navigator, it expanded all over the world in XXVI Century. Because Portugal got in so early on the exploring game, the language established itself all over the world, especially in Brazil, Macau, Angola, Venezuela, and Mozambique.

9. Malay Indonesian

It is the language spoken in Malaysia and Indonesia (Southeast Asia) with a population of around 250 million people.

10. French

French is spoken in many countries, including Belgium, Canada, Rwanda, Cameroon, and Haiti. Oh, and France too.
