1. Mandarin
Over one billion people speak Mandarin as their mother tongue and this makes Manadrin the most commonly used language in the world, because it is spoken in the most populated country on the planet. It is spoken twice the number of time that English is spoken.

3. Hindustani
The third most common language is that one that is spoken in the second most populated place of the world: India. It encompasses a huge number of dialects (of which the most common is Hindi). While many predict that the population of India will soon surpass that of China, the prominence of English in India prevents Hindustani from surpassing the most popular language in the world.

Even if Portugal is a very small country, thanks to people like Vasco da Gama and Prince Henry the Navigator, it expanded all over the world in XXVI Century. Because Portugal got in so early on the exploring game, the language established itself all over the world, especially in Brazil, Macau, Angola, Venezuela, and Mozambique.
