Martha Lane Fox was born 10 February 1973 in Oxford, UK.
She attended the Oxford High School, Westminster School and Magdalen College and she graduated at Oxford University with a degree in ancient and modern history.
She began her successful career in the consultancy firm Spectrum Strategy Consultants, where she met a very important person in her life: Brent Hoberman.
In 1998, together with him, she founded Lastminute.com an on-line travel and gift business which became an icon of the UK internet boom.
She remained on the board until the company was purchased by Sabre Holdings in 2005 for £577million.
On 28 December 2003,The Sunday Telegraph revealed that she would become the"right hand" of Galen Weston, owner of Selfridges.
Four years later, in 2007, she joined the board of Marks & Spencer as a non-executive director.
She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Channel 4 Television.
She also founded in London a new business venture, the Lucky Voice Private Karaokem, the city only upscale private room karaoke experience and she is a Trustee and Board Member of the charity Reprieve which fights for the lives of people facing the death penalty.
