Yesterday afternoon, the Oxford university won the 155th boat race which have been involving both universities of Cambridge and Oxford since 155 years. Since then, this boat race has been taking place every year at the end of March on the Thames in West London.

The boat race is a big event in London. The boat race attracts each year thousands of persons. You better arrive early if you want to see the race. Some interns of the London team of internship Uk went to attend the boat race from a leisure rowing club right on the bank of the river. I can tell you the spot was perfect to enjoy the race.

At the rowing club, we were offered a proper English drink, Pimm's. Do you know Pimm's? Well I didn't know it. Only English people can add strawberries, fresh mint leaves, lemon slices and cucumber in a cocktail. The result is surprinsingly very nice and tasty.

Anyone for Pimm's? Wink

Next week, another intern is already leaving us! Cry

Since the beginning of March, 2 interns have already finished their contract so there is 2 seats available in the office. Next Monday, it is Jan's turn to say bye bye to the office. Frown

The good news is on Thursday we are all going to the pub for a drink, a good laugh, taking some last pictures and sharing lots of great memories of the internship we spent together. Tongue out

Generally I prefer to attend welcoming parties rather then good bye party which I feel a bit sad but it is always good fun as well.

Let's go and party Surprised

Last week my team and I achieved all the targets we were working on and finished our project on time! We were proud of our great achievement and the marketing manager was happy with the final result as well. On Friday, me and my team's mates went for a drink to celebrate!! Laughing

Since yesterday, I have already started working on a new project. Two teams are working closely on this project, a marketing team composed by 3 people and an IT team composed by 2 people. Of course I'm a member of the marketing team. I have never worked with the other 2 members of the marketing team but I'm sure we gonna do a great job together.

The project is huge and required a lot of skills but with all the marketing techniques and other skills I have learned and sthrengten during my last project I feel very enthusiastic and confident about that project!

So team let's kick off this project and meet our targets as soon as possible! Together we can do it Cool

Internship International rocks

Here is a lovely poem (by William Wordsworth) about the flower of spring, the daffodils.

"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed-and gazed-but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils"

William Wordsworth

After a long, dark and freezing winter, the spring is finally kicking off in London.

Although the spring officially starts with the spring equinox on the 21st of March, mother nature granted us with an entire week of sunshine and warm weather.

I believe the best time to visit London is spring! Well according to this photo it is, isn't it?

When I woke up last Saturday morning, the sun was already high in a beautiful immaculate blue sky. It was the beginning of a brilliant weekend. I juped on my phone and figured out a place to meet with some colleagues from the work placement. We decided to meet in the Victoria park for an improvised picnic. Each of us brought something to eat and something to drink.

As we are all international students or international graduates, you can easily figure out that our picnic was as international and multicultural as we are. Lots of colours, flavours and wonderful tastes. Our picnic consisted in sangria + tortilla from Spain, sushi (with wasabi and soy sauce) + some fruit juice from Japan, lamb and bacon sandwiches + cider from the UK, maatjes + beer from Holland, cheese and bread + red wine from France, fish salad + wine from Portugal, sausages from Germany, some yummy South Korean food which I can't remember the name, some Parma ham and other things from Italy, crackers and a drink from Sweden, some chocolate from Belgium and lots and lots of other delicious things from all over Europe and the world. As food lovers we are, we did all enjoy this kind of international gourmet afternoon.

Meeting up with the other interns from Internship UK is always good fun. London offers us lots of possibilities to organise parties and all kind of activities. Every time we meet, we get to know each other better and better and when we go back to work on Monday we feel much closer to each other. Trust me, doing an internship is fun fun fun while inside and outside the office.

The week is almost over and we hope the good weather gonna stay with us to celebrate the beginning of the spring.

Yesterday, we all celebrated the St Patrick. The famous Irish Saint!

We first had a quick lunch together and then we rushed to the tube station to take the train to central London. There was lots of people in the street and everyone was in a party mood. Tongue out The sun was shinning and it was almost 16°C. An excellent day to have fun in London.

Once arrived in central London, we were just on time to see the official Irish parade. Hundreds of persons were in the parade. Some were playing some music and some others were doing randome stuff like the Guinness men who were actually really good!

Interns from the London Office on a day out

After the parade, we reached Trafalgar Square where the Mayor of the city did a short speech. At the end of the speech they released lots of baloons whith the colors of the Irish flag. This is probalby the best photo I took yesterday! A clouds free sky, yes it can happen in London, lol.

There was a huge stage on the square where lots of bands and artists performed all afternoon long. When the band started playing music, we all went crazy and started dancing. The square was packed with a lot of people dancing and having fun just like us. It was really cool to be with all the interns from the London office and having fun together with the sun and a blue sky above us. We shared a couple of drinks and we had to have a Guinness in order to feel like real Irish guys.

Basically it was a really fun day all together in London after a working week at the internship UK.

This moments are really important during the intenship, you get to know your colleagues in another environment. You create a differtent relation with them and some friendship relations as well. May be we will celebrate St Patrick's 2010 together in Dublin....

When I graduate a few months ago, I wasn't sure what to do! Undecided

Travelling alone for a few months around the world, going on holiday with some friends, start working, ... Many choices!!!!
After a few days of reflexion I decided to move to London.

Hyde Park London with some interns - London Internship

I arrived in London in the middle of the summer, on a sunny day!

From Belgium it is really easy to travel to London. You can fly, take the train or take the boat. I decided to travel by train, it is more convenient and really quick.

Once in London, I stayed 2 months at some friends which was really cool. No need to spend money for an hotel or hostel room and in restaurants.

My friends took me around London and show me some really cool places including bars, pubs, cinemas, theatres and nice and cheap restaurants! It is here in London then for the first time I tried some Indian food and trust me it is really yummy Laughing

We went together to see a show at the theatre, the theatre in London are really good. Brodway in New-York is the only competitors. I'll advise anyone to go and see a theatre musical or show in London, it is worth the money.

After a few days of seightseeing and visiting I started to look for a job. Due to the economic situation and the financial crisis starting it wasn't the best time to get a job. After a few weeks of hard research, I found a really good internship at a company called Gift-Tours. At Gift-Tours I'm working in the marketing and sales department. The work placement is very good and after a short but intensive training I have started to work on my own project. The first project I was working on was related to web marketing and advertise theatre tickets for London theatres.

At Gift-Tours there is students and post graduates from all over the world working together and learning from each other. Few international internships will give you the opportunity to work in such a multicultural environnment.

I will keep you posted soon Cool
