Hi interns from all over the worldSmile!

Well, why do I write about tips on doing an internship in the UK?
Exactly, I am going to tell you some things I messed up! Read this and I hope it will make your stay in the UK much more comfortable!!!
I will also include some helpful advices on trips, transport and tickets....I am currently doing an internship with Gift-Tours, where I am gaining work experience in the field of events management... Or simply, organizing trips, club tours & tickets is currently my job!...That's why I know so much of the stuff...So, be sure you can rely on what I am writing here! Let's start with part one of my 10 tips!

1.The European Union tries to standardize everything: smoking policies, taxes etc.. But NOT: POWER SOCKETS!...If you wanna use your notebook on the first few days, take a adaptor for Great Britain with you!!

2.If you fly to the UK and your ticket says that you are only allowed to check in 20 kilos without extra fees, then it really means 20 kilos or PAY A FORTUNE!...With some budget airlines you are even only allowed to bring 15 kilos. Remember this when packing your suitcase!

3.This refers to point 2....so, what to do if you are only allowed to bring 2 pairs of shoes , but you will be doing an internship for 3 months in the UK (sorry, I' am a girl
Kiss and this 20 kilo restriction is killing me)...Here some hellpful advice:

  • Bring just one towel
  • take mini body lotion etc. instead of 1 litre bottles

In the UK, you will find plenty of great 1£ pound stores, where you will be able to buy towels for only one pound..no joke!...Due to the weak pound, also cosmetic articles are really affordable...compared to Germany for example even cheaper...Leave your heavy Dove bottle at home and buy it here!

4.Your internship is not in London and you can't fly directly to the city where you will be working? Then try to TRAVEL BY BUS...or...BOOK TRAIN TICKET ON THE INTERNET...It's much more cheaper, trust me!...This is a general advice on travelling in the UK!

5.Generally, before buying theatre tickets, transport tickets etc. first have a look to the internet! Most of the time booking online will enable you to take advantage of great discounts!!!...Hotels and hostels are often also much cheaper when booked with a British company! Britain is an expensive country, but you can save money if you know where!

Well guys, that's it for part one...hope this was already helpful to you...part two will follow soon!
Enjoy your stay in the UK!!!! I am doing it!!!

Cheers Marion
